Besides being a complete failure of blogging, 2011 can be describes as the year I could have done without.

Back in Brisbane, after a lovely visit to Sydney, filled with gatherings of family and friends. My garden has survived, and I have ripe tomatoes and rather more rose blossoms than I was expecting waiting for me to see to properly in the morning (must remember to thank the neighbours that kept them watered). I am such a bad sister. Yesterday was my brother's birthday and I got so tangled up in waiting to see Order of the Phoenix that I completely forgot. It's not like he hasn't done the same for me in the past, but still...*writes reminder to self to call at a more sane hour of the morning*.

I went to see the Paris Opera Ballet Company do Swan Lake tonight. It's been my favourite ballet for as long as I can remember, but this was the first time I have ever seen it performed live, so I've been looking forward to tonight for a while: like about twenty-five years.

Spent the whole day today at my parents' place helping to clean up the two treetops that were still occupying the front yard.

Well, if there is any such thing as wild winter weather, this weekend is it. Rain and gales everywhere, snow all along the ranges, the ski season opening on timeAfter four years of drought, it was distinctly weird to wake up to the third straight day of pouring rain this morning - but at least the wind had let up some.
